Trainee Plant Mechanic/Technician

Job purpose:

The Trainee Plant Mechanic/Technician will be required to develop in competence in the maintenance and repair of all mechanical aspects of construction plant, tools and equipment. They will learn to carry out the safe and cost-effective repair & maintenance of all company plant, vehicles and equipment, without harm to people, the environment and targeting zero defects.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

College Work/Study, working towards the relevant SVQ, whilst acquiring new skills in the workplace through on-the-job training.
Develop competence in the preventative & routine maintenance of company equipment, in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Learn to trouble shoot and fault find any defects on plant and tools and carry out repairs as necessary.
Learning to Assemble/dismantle/check/repair and modify mechanical plant and equipment and to ensure compliance with the relevant standards and specifications.
Attend any additional training in other disciplines to further develop
Work with the Service Manager and other workshop staff to promoting a safe work environment.  Ensure all safety and environmental rules are followed including wearing appropriate PPE.
Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping.
Learn how to correctly complete service and inspection records for all company plant and vehicles (this will include preparing service records and engineers reports as instructed).
Utilise tools and equipment correctly and safely.  
Ensure waste minimisation including waste segregation and safe disposal.
Learn how to correctly complete pre delivery plant inspections.
Give support to the Yard and Stores staff as required.
Attend Site Induction and work within site rules.
Work effectively as a member of the Plant Team.
Timekeeping & Productivity.
Safe working environment and maintain standards of Health and Safety, Environment and Quality.

Trainee HGV Mechanic/Technician

Job purpose:

The Trainee HGV Mechanic/Technician will be required to develop in competence in the maintenance and repair of all mechanical aspects of HGV’s. They will learn to carry out the safe and cost-effective repair & maintenance of all company plant, vehicles and equipment, without harm to people, the environment and targeting zero defects.  For this role, applicants will need to be interested in mechanics and keen to work with a wide range of vehicles while learning about the industry to a nationally recognised standard.

College Work/Study, working towards the relevant SVQ, whilst acquiring new skills in the workplace through on-the-job training.

Trainee Fabricator/Welder

Job purpose:

The Trainee Fabricator/Welder will be required to develop in competence in aspects of fabrication & welding.  You’ll be responsible for joining metal using a variety of techniques. Duties may include cutting and welding materials according to technical plans created by other construction professionals.

College Work/Study, working towards the relevant SVQ, whilst acquiring new skills in the workplace through on-the-job training.

Develop competence in fabrication & welding, in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Learn to trouble shoot and fault find any defects and carry out repairs as necessary.
Carrying out mig/tig/gas/arc welding to manufacture items and components
Cutting materials into the required shapes, checking dimensions and thicknesses
Welding or joining metal and other materials into a wide range of structures
Following engineering plans, drawings and instructions
Attend any additional training in other disciplines to further develop
Work with the Workshop Manager and other workshop staff to promoting a safe work environment.  Ensure all safety and environmental rules are followed including wearing appropriate PPE.
Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping. - Cleaning tools, equipment and work areas
Utilise tools, machinery & welding equipment correctly and safely. 
Ensure waste minimisation including waste segregation and safe disposal.
Learn how to correctly complete pre delivery plant inspections.
Give support to the Yard and Stores staff as required.
Attend Site Induction and work within site rules.
Work effectively as a member of the Plant Team.
